ICE CANDLES

Ice candles are really popular candles to make. The ice creates an effect in the candle that just cannot be achieved by any other method.

You can make these candles and show them to your friends. They will be shocked at you ability to create stunning candles.

Potentially, you can make these candles in jam jars or an equivalent, but I personally prefer them when made in a mould. The reason why is because you remove the mould, the effect the ice had on the candle is more easily seen and appreciated.

When you make ice candles, essentially what happens is when you pour the molten hot wax onto the ice, the wax begins to cool and harden really quick. Next, the ice begins to melt under the heat of the wax. The result is a candle full of air holes. This creates totally unique candles.

I like to call these candles my Swiss Cheese Candles!

1. Wax
2. Mould
3. Scissors
4. Thermometer
5. Primed wicks
6. Double boiler
7. Kitchen scale
8. Aluminum foil
9. Bag of crushed ice
10. Dye if adding color
11. Stearin if making paraffin candles

1. Add the wick to the mould. To do this, follow Step 1 of the single color candle.

1. Crush some ice inside a bag.
2. Add the crushed ice into your mould.
3. Melt the stearin and wax.
4. Pour the wax into the mould once the proper pouring temperature has been reached.

1. Wait until wax has cooled and then remove it from the mould.
   • Do not soak this candle in water. It's important that the ice inside the candle melts and if you soak the candle, then the ice will not have its desired effect.
