More Information CHUNKY CANDLESMany chandlers make chunky candles when they have pieces of wax left over from other projects. This is a really easy candle to make that not only uses the old pieces, but actually looks good too. There is no set rule regarding the amount of chunks you need to add. You can add a lot or a little, depending on how many chunks you have or how chunky you like your candles. For best results, the chunks of wax need to be a decent size otherwise the chunks will not be seen within the candle. Therefore, most people use chunks that are approximately 1.5 to 2.5 cm (½ to 1 inch) in size. Obviously, since the chunks need to be a decent size, you cannot make a chunky candle using a slender taper mould or any slender mould. Instead, this candle is best made in jam jars or a mould that is wide. You can also make this candle with a cone mould. When using a cone mould, the base of the mould is wide but the top is narrow. This is fine. As long as part of the mould is wide enough to get the chunks in.
